SM 0048 - Manfred Hitchins (L) and Steve LissaBrisbane, August 4, 2014 – Semco Equipment Sales has opened a new sales and service centre in Brisbane to sell and support its equipment brands.

The establishment of Semco’s Brisbane office is the latest move in the company’ expansion and follows the opening last year of the Melbourne office to service the needs of the Victorian market.

Prior to the Melbourne opening, Semco already had sales and service operations in Newcastle, Queanbeyan and Goulburn. The addition of the Queensland office and the appointment of distributors enable Semco to sell and support Takeuchi equipment and its other key brands across eastern Australia.
Semco’s Satch Santilli said the company’s heavy investment in the Takeuchi brand was a major consideration in the expansion. “Our customers will benefit from the enormous resources and experience of our sales, parts and service teams in supporting Takeuchi.

“After serving the needs of customers for twenty years in the New South Wales and regional markets, as well as opening in Melbourne last year, clearly we have a winning formula based on our leading equipment, dedicated customer support and accumulated knowledge of the construction, local government, rail infrastructure and agricultural markets.

“We could no longer ignore the needs of the Queensland market which represents a significant percentage of the construction, earthmoving, council, roads and infrastructure industries”, he said.

Semco said its Darra location was selected after careful consideration for easy road access for its customers and space for equipment demonstration, pre-sale preparation and service.

Sales from the Brisbane regional office are being managed by Steve Lissa. Originally from Innisfail, Steve has a wealth of hands-on experience from his 15 years as a contractor where he owned and operated a large variety of machinery and subsequently has considerable experience in sales and supporting customers for Takeuchi excavators and compact loaders.

A father of two daughters, Steve is also a keen fisherman and indulges his passion for his sport whenever his busy work schedule allows.
Recently appointed to manage parts, Manfred Hitchins came to Australia from the UK when he was 18. Since then, he has gained a solid and diverse background in construction equipment, tractors and trucks withTutt Bryant and Morgan equipment, both in Australia and overseas.

Manfred has a consuming interest in aircraft, having a recreational aircraft licence. He is an active member of the Queensland Air Museum, as well as being President of the Eagle Farm Aviation Society.

“In addition to Takeuchi, Semco Queensland will be selling other products imported and distributed by Semco: Terex loader backhoes, Fiori Self-loading concrete batchers and dumpers. Attachment lines include U.emme mixers, brooms and Laser Blades as well as the new Rokla Rockwheel twin header line and all the popular brands of locally-sourced attachments”, said Semco’s Graham Murphy.

“Our objective is to markedly increase Takeuchi sales around Australia through our strategy to invest heavily in machinery inventory by carrying stock of virtually every model; high level training for staff and dealers and comprehensive parts inventory and technical equipment such as diagnostic tools, all supported directly by the Takeuchi factory in Nagano, Japan.

“New models are released in Australia as soon as they are on the market, the next addition being the TB280FR Full Zero Swing machine…a unique and patented Takeuchi innovation with specifications not matched by any other machine. The FR-series is Mr Takeuchi’s personal brainchild…the man who invented the world’s first mini excavator.

“While Takeuchi may not be the largest manufacturer in Japan, the brand has become renowned for high quality, durability and innovative design. The Nagano factory produces up to 20,000 units per annum and virtually all are exported to first world markets such as Austria, Germany, France, UK, USA and Sweden”, Murphy added.

Semco was founded in 1994 and has branches/outlets in Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra, Newcastle, Goulburn and now Brisbane. It has supporting dealers appointed in Tasmania and South Australia and other dealer appointments will be made progressively in key centres throughout North Queensland and the Northern Territory.
