Companies and contractors in the construction, mining and quarrying industries will welcome the release of the Morooka MST-4000VDR all-terrain tracked dumper. This powerful 310kW high capacity, heavy duty rubber tracked vehicle is designed to carry a 20-tonne payload, while maintaining minimal ground pressure.

The design of large rubber tracked dumpers enables them to perform tasks which other vehicles such as unarticulated dump trucks find very difficult.

Like all the new Morooka vehicles, the MST-4000VDR is fitted with the latest ROPS and Level II FOPS and can operate efficiently on extremely challenging sites. The MST-4000VDR is capable of climbing steep grades while fully loaded, enabling engineers to design shorter length haul roads and access tracks, significantly reducing costs through lower load/unload cycle times and less fuel consumption.

Treading lightly

With wide rubber tracks that distribute ground contact weight evenly, together with the 360 degrees capacity, the machine reduces the risk of increasing surface moisture caused by multiple passes over the ground surface. The entire body, including ancillary equipment that may be mounted on the carrier, can rotate infinitely in a similar manner to an excavator.

Reduction of ground pressure of around 10 times compare with a wheeled machine, not only on soft ground, but also a ground which has been backfilled and recently compacted, also reduces the risk of displacement or damage to underground plumbing, gas, communications, electrical or other infrastructure services.

Many applications

The machine is aimed at infrastructure and tunnelling earthworks, due to its capacity to work on a site without having to spin the whole machine around. This feature enables the load to be discharged and the cabin rotated with the operator facing forward to drive out on the same route on which it entered.

On drilling and exploration rigs, the entire drilling works can be rotated to position a drill anywhere over the side. This enables the operator to drill in a pattern on both sides of the machine.

Another application is spray grass seeding where the operator can distribute grass seed spraying through 360 degrees with minimal movement of the vehicle. The benefit is, a single operator can quickly and efficiently perform a spray operation from the cabin.

Hydrostatic transmission

Morooka rubber tracked crawlers are hydrostatically driven with infinitely variable speed capability, eliminating the use of heavy and wear-prone clutches and gearboxes. The engine drives two centrally mounted hydraulic pumps which deliver flow to separate hydraulic motors mounted in each track driving assembly.

The machines are very easy to operate by a simple electric joystick lever. The addition of cruise control, auto deceleration mode and side and rear cameras provide the operator with a safe and comfortable work environment.

A smaller machine, the MST-700 VDR is being released at the same time and shares the technology of the larger machine. Caterpillar engines used in the Morooka machines are the latest technology US/EU global emission specifications, making these machines ready to work on the most stringent sites.

Engineered for efficient tool adaption

Because many Morooka tracked vehicles are used for different applications that require specialised tools and work platforms to be fitted, S.T.E.P. drawings are available to allow work to be performed without the need for the vehicle will be transported to an external workshop.
